Our Story

How It Begun

14 years ago a dedicated healthcare professional took it upon himself to become a beacon of hope for all.  He recognised the need for compassionate emergency accommodation in the city of Auckland's harsh landscape and he committed himself to the Hindu Niwas cause. The vision was simple: to create a safe haven for everyone, especially those facing crises, individuals in need of a temporary or long term stay. Our journey has been guided by a commitment to care, support, and providing a home away from home for those in need.

Who We Help

Our support extends to:

  • Individuals in crisis, without access to traditional mental health or housing support.

  • People at risk of homelessness or living in unsafe conditions, such as on the streets or under bridges.

  • Those seeking transitional housing as they move toward permanent arrangements.

  • Anyone in need of a short-term or long-term stay during life transitions or emergencies.

What We Stand For

We believe everyone deserves dignity, safety, and a place to call home, even if temporarily. At Hindu Niwas, we address the gaps in mental health and housing systems by offering critical support to those often overlooked. Our space also serves as transitional housing, providing a pathway for individuals working toward permanent solutions while ensuring they have the care and support they need during this process.

Our Approach

We provide:

  • Safe Spaces: Secure, clean, and welcoming accommodations for short-term and long-term stays.

  • Supportive Care: Compassionate assistance tailored to the needs of the residents.

  • Transitional Housing: A stable environment that bridges the gap between crisis and permanent solutions, functioning as a halfway house for those in need.

  • A Path Forward: Helping residents connect with resources, rebuild stability, and find a foundation for their next steps.
